This Week's Favorites
While our summer might be looking a little different this year, that doesn't mean we can't find new summer makeup favorites!! These products have been some of my favorite this past week to help speed up my makeup looks and still look fresh and put together.
Starting off is the Maybelline Color Strike Shadow Stick, this cream-to-powder shadow stick has been a game changer for me. I don't know about you but this summer less has definitely been more, especially with eye shadow. I could care less about shadow recently, unless getting ready for something specific. However, this shadow pen is easy to swipe on and blend out with minimal effort. It comes in 6 shades so you have a few good options to choose between. I personally cannot wait to try them all. I have loved giving a little definition to my eyes without having to drag out the eye shadow brushes and palettes and deciding on what works best. The Color Strike definitely helps take out the guess work. It also stays in place without creasing or smudging and it stays in place. Sounds like a major win to me!
Sticking with less is more, let's talk about Mac Face and Body Foundation, if you had told me three years ago I would be so in love with a light, build able coverage foundation I would call you a liar. Funny how our opinions and thoughts change over time isn't? Well here I am to tell you all, I love this foundation, it gives a beautiful, light, dewy finish. By dewy, it's not a "shiny" kind of feel, I am a normal to oily type skin so I'm very picky about "dewy" finish, but this one is beautiful. It can be built up a little so it's not totally sheer, however if you're wanting a full coverage, it will need to be mixed. I have loved this for evening out my skin tone and making my makeup look fresh and beautiful. I also love using it to cut down on a more full coverage foundation so that it looks a little lighter and more skin like.
Alright, so the Maybelline Lifter Gloss, this gloss might be my absolute new favorite, which is honestly quite shocking considering I tend to impulse buy new lip products every 6 seconds. This gloss has hyaluronic acid in it, giving lasting hydration to the lips and honestly, it's true! This gloss was so comfortable for all day wear, not sticky or goopy in the slightest. It wore off well, which as weird as that may sound, is a good thing. I personally like when a lip product doesn't wear off weird and peel or leave weird marks. Due to the hydration in this gloss it wore beautifully with no strange peeling or discoloration. It also has a the perfect amount of pigmentation, it doesn't have too much coverage and it's not sheer. It is beautiful both on it's own or over a nice lip liner.
It appears this is going to be a Maybelline kind of day! They've got some great products out right now so it's not surprising. The Dream Urban Cover, another great summer foundation. This one has more coverage, more of a medium build able and has SPF 50, score! This foundation is great because it has a light almost tinted moisturizer feel, with the coverage you want. Some say it's a good dupe for IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream, which is a great product in itself, however I don't think I would quite call it a "dupe". I think the Maybelline one is a bit lighter in feel. This product is great when you want to feel put together but not feel heavy. It can be used for a natural look or even a little more glam.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check out some of my recent favorites! I hope you see something new that you might want to try out. If you have any questions or want to talk makeup, send me an email! I could talk products all day!
